Description of A/C gene mutation related dilated cardiomyopathy with gadolinium- enhanced magnetic resonance imaging

چکیده
Introduction Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a major cause of heart failure and sudden cardiac death. About one third of DCM is familial. Several DCM disease genes have been identified, many of them limited to only single individuals or families. A/C gene (LMNA) is sofar the most significant disease gene of DCM. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays an important role in characterization and risk stratification of patients with DCM. About one third of DCM patients have demonstrated mid-myocardial linear enhancement on DE-MRI in a non-coronary distribution, due to fibrosis.

Late gadolinium enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance of lamin A/C gene mutation related dilated cardiomyopathy
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to identify early features of lamin A/C gene mutation related dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) with cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). We characterise myocardial and functional findings in carriers of lamin A/C mutation to facilitate the recognition of these patients using this method. We also investigated the connection between myocardial fibrosis and...
متن کاملMyocardial scarring caused by left ventricular assist device (LVAD) insertion demonstrated by cardiovascular magnetic resonance.
We report three cases of dilated cardiomyopathy treated with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), subsequently explanted. These mechanical devices are being increasingly used to support left ventricular function in the short and long term. We used cine and gadolinium-enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to examine the consequences of previous LVAD implantation. In all cases, ther...
متن کاملCharacteristics and clinical associations of late gadolinium enhanced cardiovascular magnetic tesonance in lamin A/C, cardiac troponin T and myosin binding protein C gene mutation related cardiomyopathies
Background Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a common cause of heart failure (HF) and the most common diagnosis in patients referred for cardiac transplantation. Genetic studies in DCM have identified mutations in over 30 genes. To date, there is only scarce data regarding the interdependencies between the various genotypes and their impact on cardiac morphology and myocardial tissue appearance. ...
متن کاملPrognostic significance of the extent of septal fibrosis quantified on late gadolium enhanced images in patients with nonischemic cardiomyopathy
Background Midwall septal fibrosis on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging has been shown to be an independent predictor of adverse events in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). Recent studies in other cardiomyopathy cohorts, such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, suggest that LGE extent provides incremental prognostic value over ...
متن کاملSize Reproducibility of Gadolinium Oxide Based Nanomagnetic Particles for Cellular Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Effects of Functionalization, Chemisorption and Reaction Conditions
We developed biofunctionalized nanoparticles with magnetic properties by immobalizing diethyle-neglycol (DEG) on Gd2O3, and PEGilation of small particulate gadolinium oxide (SPGO) with two me-thoxy-polyethyleneglycol-silane (mPEG-Silane 550 and 2000 Da) using a new supervised polyol route, described recently. In conjunction to the previous study to achieve a high quality synthesis and increase ...
